- Located at 12 Kakawa Street, this 19th century building was built for Jao Esan Da Rocha, a Brazilian returnee and patriarch of the Da Rocha family. The house was a replica of the Da Rocha family home in Bahia, Brazil. It was one of the first houses in Lagos to have a water fountain and a borehole, and the water was sold to the community. The Water House is an example of Brazilian architectural style in Nigeria and is one of the few remaining residential buildings of its kind. The house was featured in the novel The Water House by Antonio Olint
